About the Artist

Inspired by his travels through 83 countries on 7 continents, Jeff Bullied uses the language of photography to weave compelling visual stories. He is drawn to photographing in the world’s iconic cities, with New York City and London being notable favourites. But he is also a Polar Expedition Guide and spends months every year in Antarctica and the Arctic shooting wildlife and landscapes. While this may seem incongruous, he simply likes the variety and thrives on the challenges that these vastly different environments present. Whether it be urban or in nature, his subjects are revealed in intimate and sensitive detail to highlight the extraordinary in all things from the mundane to the ethereal.

With deft use of natural light, he works to capture moments of revelation and authenticity to communicate the emotional connection between humanity and our built or natural environment.

Most recently in 2023, Jeff was honoured to receive a 3rd place Honour of Distinction in Fine Art in the 18th Annual Black & White Spider Awards for his Like Birds in the Sky image.

Earlier in 2023 Jeff also received the distinction of 9 Honorable Mentions across 5 Categories in the prestigious Monochrome Photography Awards: International Black & White Photography Contest.

In 2022, Jeff’s images won the following accolades in international competitions:

  1. Gold medal, Still Life category - 2022 reFocus One Shot Awards;

  2. 3rd Place Honor of Distinction, Americana category - 2022 Black & White Spider Awards;

  3. Editor’s Choice (Emerging Talent) - The Independent Photographer Awards.

His photographic images have also been selected through juried competitions to appear in several gallery shows in the USA.
